Evening Tour consists of approximately 308 stairs (up and down) and 3/4 mile route to walk. Duration is 2 hours and 10 minutes with a considerable amount of standing. Visibility conditions include daylight, twilight and darkness with both exterior and interior artificial lighting, ranging from dim to very bright.

Children ages 6 to 17 qualify for a Child ticket. Children under the age of 6 do not need a ticket as long as they do not occupy a seat on the bus.

Tour Description

Evening Tour - Allows visitors to experience the Castle at night as a visitor to the Castle in the 1930s might have. Features highlights from the Experience, Upper Floors of Casa Grande, and Garden tours. (Tour 5)

Evening tours run from March through May and September through December 30 on most Fridays and Saturdays. Additional nights are added during holiday periods and during the month of April will run every night April 6-18 with the exception of Sundays. Also there will be NO evening tour May 22, 23, September 12, 26, Oct 2 and Dec 5 2009.

Important Information

Hearst Castle accepts VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Free day use parking is available for automobiles, motorcycles, tour buses and recreational vehicles. Large, bulky backpacks, folding chairs, camera bags, tripods and monopods, etc. are not allowed due to the narrow hallways and numerous stairs. No food or drink is permitted on tours.


Amenities

The Visitor Center offers a variety of food and drink services. Guests may use large outdoor picnic tables or dine indoors.


Directions

Visitors board the Hearst Castle bus at the Visitor Center as they begin their journey for the five mile trip to the top of the hill. The view out of the window shows the natural beauty that attracted William Randolph Hearst to this spectacular location.
